Violinist Kevin Hao was born in Shanghai, P. R. of China. He started the violin at the age of four and graduated from the pre-college of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at age 19. Before joining the Kansas City Symphony, Hao was a member of the Virginia Symphony, and prior to that, he was the concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago under the baton of Daniel Barerboim and Pierre Boulez. As a soloist Hao has played with the Shanghai Symphony, Northwestern University Symphony and the University of Washington Symphony.
