Timothy Jepson is currently Principal Timpanist with the Kansas City Symphony, a position he has held since 1983. He is percussionist with the Kansas City Brass and is featured on their recordings "A Kansas City Christmas" and "No Strings Attached." Jepson has performed with the Sunflower Music Festival, the Music Festival of Arkansas, Missouri Symphony Society, and Western Slope Music Festivals. He has also appeared as a soloist with the University of Missouri at Kansas City's Conservatory orchestra performing Michael Colgrass' "De'Ja Vu" for Percussion Quartet and Orchestra.

An active educator, Jepson is in demand as a clinician, arranger and adjudicator in a four-state region. As a specialist in marching percussion, he developed successful percussion programs throughout the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and was an adjunct faculty member at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. teaching timpani, concert and marching percussion from 1996-2001. A native of Iowa, he is a Cum Laude graduate of Morningside College in Sioux City. His timpani teachers include Earl Yowell of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and Salvatore Rabbio of the Detroit Symphony. Jepson is currently the Kansas City Symphony's delegate to the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) and has been a representative of his Symphony colleagues serving on numerous committees, task forces and Board of Trustee activities. He has recently become an endorsing artist representing the Sabian Cymbal Company.

He is married to Deann, an Institute Director and Project Manager with the National Addictions Technology Transfer Center (NATTC). In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his sons, Christian and Matthew, as well as helping Deann as co-owner of DEEZ Cockers, which specialize in Champion Parti-Colored American Cocker Spaniels. Jepson also works as a music contractor hiring local Union musicians for several touring productions and concerts in Kansas City.
