South-Korean violinist, Sunho Kim joined the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra in the fall, 2008, as a section second violinist, but a month later she won the Assistant Concertmaster position. Before moving to Kansas City, she was a fellow at the New World Symphony (NWS) in Miami from 2005-08. Kim regularly served as a concertmaster under Michael Tilson Thomas and frequently performed in the NWS Chamber Music Series. As a soloist, Kim has performed with the Estonian Symphony, Danish Free Mason, Korean Symphony, Seoul Youth Chamber, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and gave solo performances in Italy, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Czech Republic and the United States. As a devoted chamber musician, she has performed at the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, the Smithsonian American History Museum as a founding member of the Tappan String Quartet and last fall she was selected to perform at the Shanghai International Music Festival with the chamber music ensemble of NWS. She has won numerous awards including the first prize and best interpretation at the International Heino Eller Competition in Tallinn, Estonia, the first prize at the Royal Danish Academy of Music Competition in Copenhagen, the Bales Violin Competition in Boston, Cho-Sun Daily, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artist Audition, and the Seoul Arts High School Chamber Music Competition. She has earned various music diplomas studying with leading violinists such as Masuko Ushioda, Milan Vitek and Mi-kyung Lee.

In her free time Kim enjoys cooking for her friends, reading, and watching 'Law and Order.'
