David Repking, originally from St. Louis, Mo., began playing violin at the age of four. This is his first season with the Kansas City Symphony. Prior to coming to Kansas City, Repking was a violin fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach for the 2008-2009 season. Repking received a Master of Music degree in 2008 from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Stephen Rose. He previously attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated in 2006 with a BM in Violin Performance. His primary teachers included Carolyn Huebl, Christian Teal and John Kochanowski. Repking has spent three summers as a Tanglewood Music Center fellow and has also attended the Aspen Music Festival and Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory. He has been a substitute with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2007 and was a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra from 2006-2008.
