Matthew Rombaum is an Associate Principal Viola with the Kansas City Symphony. Before being appointed to this position, he was Principal Violist of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. While in Miami, He was a founding member of the Plymouth String Quartet and on the string faculty of Florida International University.
As a soloist, Rombaum has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, The Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, The New World Symphony, Western Symphony, Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, and the Oklahoma Symphony. He has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Aspen Chamber Orchestra. Rombaum's philosophy is "if it sounds good...they'll be back for more" and "don't just play the notes...SING THEM!".
