David Sullivan was appointed Associate/Assistant Principal Horn of the Kansas City Symphony in June of 2009. A native of Kentucky, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Horn Performance from the University of Kentucky and his Master’s degree in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, earning both with Summa Cum Laude distinction. Prior to joining the Kansas City Symphony, Sullivan was an active sub on the hit Broadway musical Wicked, and was a founding member of the Mimesis Ensemble, a New York based contemporary group whose mission is to perform the works of living composers. He has performed with the Seattle and Huntsville Symphonies, and has been a participant of the Aspen, Attergau and Verbier Summer Festivals. Sullivan’s major teachers include Erik Ralske and David G. Ellott.
