Kristin Velicer is the Assistant Principal Second Violinist with the Kansas City Symphony. Velicer has performed and toured internationally with numerous major orchestras including the Houston Symphony, the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra. She has appeared on National Public Radio as a featured soloist and chamber musician on Performance Today and Houston in Concert. Velicer completed her Bachelor Degree in violin performance at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music where she studied with Kathleen Winkler. While at Oberlin, she received the prestigious Conservatory Dean's Talent Award. She later received her Masters Degree from Rice University-Shepherd School of Music studying with Raphael Fliegel and Kathleen Winkler. In the summer months, Velicer serves on the faculty of the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She lives in Overland Park with her husband, Dan, a professional pianist, and their two young children.
