Kansas City Symphony Chamber Players: Quartets Come Alive

Join members of the Kansas City Symphony for an intimate evening of fine chamber music in the beautiful and historic Visitation Parish, an architecturally and acoustically unique venue located just south of the Country Club Plaza.

Quartets Come Alive:
Shostakovich/Barshai Chamber Symphony in C minor
Verdi/Drew Symphony for Strings, E minor

Composers have always confided their most intimate and personal feelings to the medium of string quartet and Shostakovich and Verdi were no exception. Even in the expanded form of string ensemble, these quartets make a direct appeal from heart to heart. Shostakovich wrote his Eighth String Quartet at one of the darkest moments of his career-embedding in it his own name translated into musical notes. And Verdi, penned his Quartet in his last years-filling it with beautiful melodies reminiscent of his greatest operatic arias.

Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 for youth.
