Feb. 24: Final Round of Young Artist Competition

The Kansas City Symphony is excited to welcome six talented students in the final round of the Woman’s City Club Charitable Foundation Young Artist Competition. Join us on Saturday, February 24 at 11 a.m. in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public, however reservations are encouraged. RSVP here.

About the Young Artist Competition
Earlier this season, the Symphony invited music students ages 13-18 to apply for a preliminary round of blind-judging auditions. Those selected for the first round of auditions performed one movement of a concerto or a concert piece for solo and orchestra at MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, on Feb. 3 The Symphony judges panel advanced five deserving students to the final round of the Young Artist Competition. After the final round, four prizes will be awarded.

First prize: $1,000 — sponsored by Dlabal Foundation
Second prize: $450 — sponsored by the Kansas City Symphony Alliance
Third prize: $250 — sponsored by the Kansas City Symphony Alliance
Audience prize: $250 — sponsored by the Kansas City Symphony Alliance

The first prize winner also may be invited to perform his or her concerto with the Symphony in May at the two Contributor’s Concerts, which are by-invitation-only concerts. More details regarding the Contributor’s Concerts will be available on the Symphony website at a later date.
