Auxiliaries

The Kansas City Symphony is extremely fortunate to have the support of six volunteer auxiliaries with a combined membership of over 700 volunteers. With their unique talent and a strong sense of commitment, they raise more than $900,000 for our Annual Fund each year.

Founded in 1982, Friends of the Symphony operates the Symphony Shop at most Kansas City Symphony performances. Volunteers also sponsor post-concert receptions throughout the year, which are attended by guest artists and musicians. Membership is open to men and women interested in supporting the Kansas City Symphony; annual dues are collected.

Jewel Ball CommitteeThe Jewel Ball Committee hosts the Jewel Ball each summer. This annual debutante ball is a benefit for the both the Symphony and the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art.

Junior Women's Symphony AllianceJunior Women's Symphony Alliancewww.showhouse.org Founded in 1961, the Junior Women's Symphony Alliance (JWSA) coordinates the Symphony Designers' Showhouse each year. Volunteers also usher at youth concerts. Membership is open to any woman who is interested in the promotion of the Kansas City Symphony; annual dues are collected.

Kansas City Symphony GuildKansas City Symphony Guildwww.kcsymphonyguild.org Founded in 1971 and focused in the Northland, the Kansas City Symphony Guild sponsors two events each year: the Home of Note Tour and the Cabaret Concert, which features a performance by the Kansas City Symphony. Membership is open to any individual willing to promote the interest and welfare of the Kansas City Symphony; annual dues are collected.

Symphony LeagueSymphony LeagueFounded in 1942, the Symphony League hosts the annual Symphony Ball, which features a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, dancing, and a Pops performance by the Kansas City Symphony. Membership is by invitation only.

Symphony Women's AssociationSymphony Women's AssociationFounded in 1933, the Symphony Women's Association (SWA) supports the Symphony through a variety of fundraising events and sponsors "The Healing of Music" program in which members of the orchestra perform for children staying in area hospitals. Members also usher at youth concerts. Membership is open to any woman interested in promoting the Kansas City Symphony; annual dues are collected.

Young Friends of the SymphonyYoung Friends of the SymphonyYoung Friends of the Symphonywww.kc-yfs.comFounded in 2003, the Young Friends of the Symphony (YFS) connects Kansas City's young professionals to Symphony musicians and performances by providing opportunities to network and mingle in a fun atmosphere. Membership is open to men and women in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

Kansas City Symphony Auxiliary CouncilKansas City Symphony Auxiliary CouncilThe Kansas City Symphony Auxiliary Council is a committee comprised of the leadership of the auxiliaries working on behalf of the Symphony. The purpose of the committee is to facilitate communication and promote cooperation among the auxiliaries, the Symphony, and the Symphony Foundation.
