Internships

The Kansas City Symphony has several openings for six-week to semester-long internships in Marketing, Operations, and Philanthropy. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in working in a non-profit environment. Internships are unpaid and we are looking for someone who is available 10-20 hours per week. While administrative duties will be scaled to match your skill and academic level, we are looking for interns who have demonstrated maturity and who have an interest in classical music and non-profit organizations.

Internships Available:

    • Marketing Internship – Assist in managing different aspects of marketing and customer service – including advertising, website, graphic design, email marketing, social media, press releases, direct mail, and fulfillment. The ideal candidate must be creative, have a positive attitude, and have general computer skills.
    • Operations Internship – Assist with operations department organization, “hands-on” work backstage with orchestra and production staff, will be responsible for research projects as assigned and will help to set up Bank of America Celebration at the Station, a free outdoor concert for over 55,000 spectators at Kansas City’s Union Station. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable about the Microsoft Suite and be detail oriented.
    • Philanthropy Internship – Assist with philanthropy efforts including conducting donor research using donor databases, supporting special events and gift fulfillment, and general office duties. The ideal candidate must be personable, have a positive attitude, be comfortable with people, comfortable on the telephone, and have general computer skills.
    • Inter-Departmental Internship – Assists all three departments in the administration of the Kansas City Symphony — Marketing, Operations, and Philanthropy. This internship has time with each department in order to gain valuable experience with multiple facets of arts management. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable about the Microsoft Suite, be detail oriented, have a love of learning, and be comfortable with people in various situations.
