Grant Smiley
Over the past several years, Grant has been a regular substitute and extra player with the Kansas City Symphony, as well as playing with several other orchestras in the region. As a lover of British brass band music, Grant has done three European tours and has won multiple North American Brass Band Association competitions as a solo cornetist with the world renowned Fountain City Brass Band.
In his spare time, Grant is passionate about aviation, being a certified pilot in both airplanes and hot air balloons, and is also an avid motorcycle rider.
Grant was born and raised in Olathe, Kansas. He attended the University of Missouri- Kansas City Conservatory for his Bachelor’s degree, and then went on to receive a Masters degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Grant was the winner of the 2015 International Trumpet Guild Orchestral Excerpt competition.
