George Goad
George Goad holds the 3rd/Utility trumpet chair with the Kansas City Symphony. Prior to Kansas City, George held positions with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he has been a guest performer with the Detroit Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. He has spent summers at the National Repertory Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Center. George received his Bachelor’s degree from The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia studying with David Bilger and is also a graduate of The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he received his Master’s degree under the tutelage of Barbara Butler and Charlie Geyer. Following his years of education, he spent a year as a fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. He grew up in Rockford, Michigan, where he studied with Aaron Good and Gregory Good in his early years. When away from the trumpet, George is an avid endurance athlete and can often be found with his wife exploring the outdoors.
