Substitute Clarinet Musician Auditions

The Kansas City Symphony is now accepting resumes (Local Musicians Only Please) for consideration at Substitute Musician auditions for the following instruments:

Thursday, September 18, 2025 (afternoon)
-Clarinet and Bass Clarinet (Clarinet Rep List and Excerpts available here)

The Kansas City Symphony is a full-time, professional Symphony Orchestra operating out of the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO. In addition to its own robust season, the Kansas City Symphony also performs for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the Kansas City Ballet. Substitute player wage rates are consistent with the Kansas City chapter of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 34-627 at $200/service. It is expected that upon working with the Kansas City Symphony, any performing musician will be members in good standing of Local 34-627. Prior to work, musicians must also possess all necessary documentation which allows them to work legally in the United States. This may include proper Visa status, OPT, CPT, etc.

All auditions will be held backstage at Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts.

To apply: Please send a one-page orchestral resume (PDF format preferred) to auditions@kcsymphony.org by Thursday, September 4. Additionally, a $50 deposit is due prior to confirmation of an audition. This deposit will be returned to you at the audition.
