What do painters and composers have in common? Both create masterpieces using simple building blocks. Just as artists use dots, lines, curves, zigzags, and brushstrokes to create images, composers use short notes, long melodies, rhythmic patterns, and musical phrases to paint pictures with sound. In Dots & Lines, conductor Daniel Wiley and the Kansas City Symphony invite students in grades 3–6 to discover how these musical “shapes” create movement, emotion, and storytelling through orchestral favorites by Dvořák, Britten, Strauss Sr., Beethoven, Amy Beach, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Suppé. Students will leave with a new appreciation for the creative connections between visual art and music—and how both transform simple elements into extraordinary works of art. Tickets are $3/person.
RESERVE ONLINE BEGINNING AUGUST 12, 2026
