Lena Goodson

Double bassist Lena Goodson is a recent graduate of Rice University where she received her master’s degree as a student of Tim Pitts. She earned her bachelor’s degree from The Curtis Institute of Music studying with Hal Robinson and Edgar Meyer. As a freshman at Curtis, Lena began serving as the Assistant Principal Bass of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, continuing that position for six seasons. She has also performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra. Lena is a three time fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center and a three time fellow of the Aspen Music Festival and School. Her first two summers at Aspen were spent furthering study with Mr. Meyer, and in her third summer she was a recipient of the prestigious New Horizon Fellowship under the guidance of Mr. Pitts. Lena has participated in such additional programs as NPR’s From the Top, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and The Perlman Music Program.
