Sodam Lim

Violinist Sodam Lim joined Kansas City Symphony in 2022-2023 season and has established herself as committed chamber and orchestral musician mostly in the United States and South Korea. Prior to joining KCS, she was a tenured member of Alabama Symphony Orchestra for 3 seasons under Music Director Carlos Izcaray. She previously was a fellow at New World Symphony from 2016 to 2019 where she has performed solo performances and many leading roles under music director Michael Tilson Thomas and one of features during her fellowship, she has played Haydn Sinfonia Concertante with Bernard Labadie as a solo violin with another 3 solo players and orchestra.

Ms. Lim recently spent her summer at Colorado Music Festival and has been invited to distinguished music festivals such as Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, the Great Mountain Music Festival and Lake George Music Festival. In addition, Ms. Lim was a top prizewinner at the Strad Strings Competition, Sunhwa Music Concours, The Journal of music competition in Korea, and Boston Young Artist Competition.

Born and raised in Seoul, Ms. Lim’s education has taken her across the globe. She received her bachelor of music degree and teaching certificate from Hanyang University in Seoul., graduating summa cum laude. After moving to the U.S., she received master of music degree and graduate diploma from New England Conservatory with academic honors and she finished her performer’s diploma at Indiana University. Her main teachers were Alexander Kerr, James Buswell, Nicholas Kitchen, Jason Horowitz, Joseph Kim, and Jueun Cho.
