John Lithgow narrates Kansas City Symphony family concert September 16th
The Kansas City Symphony’s Family Series begins September 16th with “Farkle & Friends.” Based on John Lithgow’s spellbinding children’s book of the same title, the remarkable Farkle McBride is a musical genius who plays the violin, flute, trombone and drums with incredible skill. But something is missing. The orchestra serves both to accompany young Farkle on his musical journeys as well as underscore McBride’s emotional experiences as he struggles to find his musical passion. This concert also features Carnival of the Animals with Lithgow’s own narration.

Symphony Presents Free Labor Day Concert
The Kansas City Symphony will present its 29th annual Labor Day Pops in the Park concert on Monday, September 3, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Under the evening sky, and the baton of assistant conductor Aram Demirjian in his KCS debut, the full symphony orchestra will perform a program designed to delight family audiences.

Kansas City Symphony Announces New Concertmaster

As the leader of the string section, the concertmaster plays a crucial role as facilitator between conductor and musicians in guiding the orchestra toward its ideal sound.

Aram Demirjian Chosen as Symphony Assistant Conductor
Kansas City, MO | February 23, 2012 – After an intensive audition process, Aram Demirjian has been selected as the Assistant Conductor for the Kansas City Symphony beginning with the 2012-13 season. Demirjian’s primary role will be conducting the Family and Pops Series concerts, as well as select Classical performances including the popular Symphony in the Flint Hills. He will succeed Steven Jarvi, an audience favorite for four seasons in Kansas City.
