Hatred and violence toward Asian-Americans must stop.

The tragedy this past week in Atlanta is emblematic of the rising levels of hatred and violence against Asian-Americans, all over our country. The musical landscape throughout America would be unimaginable without the immense and essential contributions of our Asian-American colleagues and friends.

The Kansas City Symphony stands with all of them, and with everyone, everywhere, across the AAPI community. We condemn the harassment and violent assaults to which they are increasingly subjected.

There can be no place for such hatred in our country, and no one should live in fear. It must stop. All of us at the Symphony pledge to continue to seek equity and justice, with determination, empathy, conviction, and always, with music.
