Meredith McCook, Cello

Cellist Meredith McCook recently finished four years playing with the New World Symphony in Miami under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. Born in Tyler, Texas, she completed her master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Alan Stepansky, and she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. She also has studied with Eugene Osadchy, David Geber and Hans Jensen. McCook has attended numerous music festivals including Spoleto, Thy (Denmark), Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, Canada’s Young Artists’ Programme, Kennedy Center, Artosphere, Britt, Domaine Forget and Summit. An avid chamber musician, McCook has performed at Carnegie Hall with the Peace Piano Trio for a United Nations benefit. She also enjoys teaching and recently spent a week in Medellin, Colombia, teaching through an exchange with the New World Symphony. She was a winner of the University of North Texas concerto competition, the Young Texas Artists competition and Manhattan School of Music’s Fuchs chamber music competition. In her free time, she enjoys running and yoga.
